Sweet Savory Peppered French Toast ~
~ Skirt in the Kitchen ~
A French toast breakfast — morning– or night.
Fry maple bacon to be served with fried toast. Save drippings and bacon grease.
Clip herbs of cilantro and chives.
Put into pieces– goat cheese for topping.
Whisk 3 whole eggs into heavy cream.
Put these spices into heavy cream, no particular measurement of each– ground cinnamon, freshly grated nutmeg, ground cloves, ground cayenne, ground chipotle chili pepper, vanilla extract, sugar.
Whisk spices, vanilla and sugar into egg/cream mixture.
Heat up skillet with 1 to 2 tablespoons bacon grease.
With stale seasoned French bread, cut into thick slices,
soak into French toast batter; allow it to set a couple of minutes. This will cause the bread to be like a custard on the inside after it’s been fried.
Then fry. Every couple of bread slices fried, wipe out the skillet with paper towels and pour in new bacon grease to fry another slice.
Pure maple syrup is usually the preference, which is a thin syrup…
For this, choose a thick, sweeter syrup to balance the sweet ‘n savory pepper effect.
