Kahluha

November 20, 2010 By Susan Nuyt Leave a Comment

Everything good must be aged a little…  just with time, we can tend to get a little bit better.  What’s a few added wrinkles, anyway?
I have a proud bone in me whenever I can make or brew something of my own without having to buy it pre-made somewhere.  Call it pride?  No, I don’t think so; rather, an accomplishment for the little things, the good things in life.  Enjoy every moment, don’t fuss, just relax and enjoy the ride.
Kahluha  ~
2 cups water
4 cups sugar
1/4 cup instant coffee
1 pint vodka or brandy
1 whole vanilla bean
Boil the sugar and water.  Add coffee and cool it down.  Then add liquor.  Pour into a 1/2 gallon bottle.  Add the vanilla bean.  Age at least 2 months before use.  Do not disturb.
When ready for drinking or use, pour over ice with whipped cream on top with powdered chocolate.  Good for an evening around the holidays.
May opt to use in desserts, frostings, too; coffee, as well.
