Fireball Sour Apple

Fireball Sour Apple, exclusively Skirt in the Kitchen

I’m not doing this in a bartender kind of way.  Instead of measuring ounces in a jigger, I’m using a measuring cup–like I do when I’m baking a fabulous cake. Hold the applause…  it’s really good.

I can be the girl next door, make you a super cocktail, entertain you and be right on time with organizational skills… with a little help and patience.  I’ll at least give it a fair shot.  But give me a hand, it wouldn’t hurt if you refer to me in the classic sense–My husband always compared me to a vintage car.  Still trying to figure that one out…  Age?  Rusted-out looking parts?  Oh, he better not–Can outdo/outrun him any day, heels or not 🙂

Not talking about a car…

Will this be buzz-kill?–not sure.  Depends on how many you can handle.  It ‘s the only way I can get my husband to have a drink with me–this cocktail.  He left his beer drinking days back in high school and early dorm life.  He will not drink with me unless I fix him a homemade up-my-sleeve, spur-of-the-moment cocktail urging him, “Try this and tell me how you like it.”  Then he will/would–just one time (idiot)… Who can limit themselves to one or not at all??

He still had a beer or two with his beloved grandfather, a few with his brother, some jack-‘n-Coke with his buddy, Mike, some countless beers with his lifelong friend, Kent–at the VFW (the elderly, haha)…  He used to have a couple tall ones with our then 24 year-old son.  Well, why not drink with the gal who launders his socks and does all that special stuff for him?

Not a men’s club here.

Freshly squeeze 1 lemon.IMG_4016 Fireball Sour Apple

Measure 1/4 cup spiced rum.IMG_4017 Fireball Sour Apple

Pour 1/4 cup Fireball, that good cinnamon whisky.IMG_3981 Fireball Sour Apple

Add 1/2 cup of your good-quality apple cider.  Stir in the lemon juice.  If you don’t have lemon, stir in freshly grated ginger or ground ginger.  It’s its best with both, the freshly grated ginger and the freshly squeezed lemon juice, but the lemon without the ginger is still the fireball of the cocktail.IMG_4147 Fireball Sour Apple

Pour over chipped ice and serve with slivered or thinly-cut apple wedges.IMG_4038 Fireball Sour Apple

no tipsy-toddy about it
