This is just right, not heavy, not thick– and it’s delicious for a friday night to unwind. Maybe you’d like to catch a movie and cuddle up on the couch with this, and some popcorn.
It’s a strong extract, don’t taste it straight-up!
In a saucepan, heat, stir and dissolve 1 3/4 cups sugar and 2 1/4 cups water. Cool completely, then add 2 tablespoons Watkins root beer concentrate.
To serve, pour 1/2 to 1 cup of the cooled root beer syrup over ice. Add Budweiser Select Beer, 1/4 to 1/2 cup, tasting accordingly. I think I might have put in a cup– but I kept adjusting between the beer and the soda syrup. Give it a good stir.
Pour into separate glasses over ice, filling the jars with homemade vanilla milkshake or store-bought.
For the popcorn, Bourbon Barrel Foods bourbon-smoked salt and bourbon-smoked sugar is excellent to use at the same time to give the popcorn the flavor of both worlds– the sweet and the salty but with the edge of bourbon.
