Oven Tacos

September 6, 2013 By Susan Nuyt Leave a Comment

I am impressed with this recipe, and the simplicity of it.  It’s quick to make.  As much as I adore regular tacos, this one takes the cake for what I want when I’m craving Taco Bell.  I like my tacos this way now.  Try it, you’ll know what I mean.

~ adapted from MIH Recipe Blog ~

Chop 1 onion and add to

2 pounds ground beef; brown.  Drain off the liquid.  Return meat to the skillet and add 1 small can diced green chilies, 1 Taco Bell packet of taco seasoning, 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce, and 1 16-ounce can refried beans.  Stir and heat, then fill crunchy taco shells– 18 to 20.

Top with Colby-jack or Mexican-blend shredded cheese.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

Add your own toppings.

Don’t forget the cilantro.

[Homemade taco seasoning:  1 tablespoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon onion salt, 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin, 1 teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper.]
