Gooey Butter Cake

August 26, 2010 By Susan Nuyt Leave a Comment

So this is good. It’s gooey cake. There are versions of this dessert but this recipe outlasts the others as far as taste and texture; high caloric, yes.  Normally I don’t bother with a box-mix; in this case, I made an exception.

Gooey Butter Cake~
-from a Women’s Auxillary-

1 box yellow cake mix

1 stick butter, melted

1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened

1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar

4 eggs

In a 9×13-inch cake pan, grease bottom and sides of pan.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Pour cake mix, butter and 2 eggs in mixing bowl; blend well.  Spread evenly into pan.  This mixture will be very thick.
Mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar and remaining two eggs together (Reserve two teaspoonfuls of powdered sugar to sprinkle over top of cake.  To give it a variation, I spread raspberry jam over half of the finished cake.).
Pour cream cheese mixture over cake batter.  Bake for 30-40 minutes.  While the cake is yet warm, sprinkle the powdered sugar over top of cake.
