Diner Brownies ~

Whisk 1 3/4 cups flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder,
1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon baking powder.
In a saucepan, bring to a simmer 2 sticks unsalted butter, 2 1/2 cups lightly packed brown sugar and 1 cup water. Cool just a little.
Take off the heat and whisk in 6 ounces chopped unsweetened chocolate; cool slightly.
One at a time, whisk in 5 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Stir in flour-cocoa mixture.
Spread in a buttered pan; bake 30 to 35 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cool before cutting into serving squares.
For the frosting: Beat 1 stick unsalted butter, 1 1/4 cups confectioners’ sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons milk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
