Happy Valentine’s Day, Grandma

February 13, 2025 By Susan Nuyt Leave a Comment

Happy Valentine’s Day ~

Who can’t resist the Grandmacore aesthetic of vintage charm, nostalgia, and something handmade/homemade? No matter how modern our day in age has come to be, this language of the heart is still somewhere in each person; at least, in many or most people:

“Grow old with me, the best is yet to be.” —Robert Browning

“Yours is the light by which my spirit’s born: you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.” —E.E. Cummings

“If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk through my garden forever.” —Alfred Lord Tennyson

“I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.” —Elizabeth Barrett Browning

“My heart is, and always will be, yours.” —Jane Austen

“Happiness is homemade, just like my love for you.”

“A heart full of love and a plate full of cookies—what more could one ask for?”

“Love is the secret ingredient in every cherished recipe.”

“May we always be like warm bread and fresh butter—simple, comforting, and made for each other.”

“A true love story never ends, but it does require handwritten letters and a cup of tea.”

“You are the lace to my linen, the ink to my love letters, the sugar to my tea.”

“Love, like a well-worn quilt, only grows softer and warmer with time.”

Why do we love the Grandmacore aesthetic? Is it because it takes us back to our childhoods? Those of us who got to experience the comfort of our grandmothers, her way of doing things in her home, and with a welcoming spirit when we’d arrive–not just a Band-Aid with the medicated ointment she’d get from her medicine cabinet for a scraped knee playing outside–our grandmas had a natural beauty about them, from what they cooked and baked, to what they’d do for us. The time they spent with us is forever in the banks of our memories. They each were unique; but were from the vintage era of this Grandmacore aesthetic that is currently a craze. And in the way that they believed in love.

It doesn’t have to be a trend, just something that comes and goes out of style. Everything vintage, Grandmacore, is in demand: clothing & accessories, home interior & décor, cars, foods from Grandma’s time; so much more that could take hours to list. Bobby pins in her hair with a scarf tied securely. What traits do you have, wear, or do of her time, of her? They come naturally to you, don’t they?

Happy Valentine’s Day, grandma-style <3

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Grandma. Thank you for giving me your love.”
