The Lovely Magnolia Leaf

The Lovely Magnolia Leaf, by Susan C. Kussman Miller

I happened to find the lovely magnolia leaf that my Grandson “Little Drew” had presented to me, and I was so proud of that leaf!

In fact, I was most honored, and wanted to keep the leaf to remember him by!

So I picked it up, studying how lovely and intact it still remained from the time Drew was here in Alabama with his family.

I washed it so very carefully, dried and placed it into a quart freezer bag with all the precious memories that seemed so long ago!

My tears trembled down as I wrote.

Oh, will our hearts ever stop aching!

I sealed the bag with those beautiful memories inside; the golden leaf, the molten darker spots of age… Sometimes making it more beautiful with the graceful curves of the outer perimeter… giving it much stature and grace to have allowed it to flow softly to the ground–in order for my beloved grandson to find it!

To the Lord, we are as that golden leaf, standing for Royalty as how we shall be in His Courts someday!
