Just As I Am

Just as I am…

“The Deaf Girl’s Sermon–

“(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.”–Matthew 6:32

The believer can live with the comforting awareness that our heavenly Father knows all regarding the needs of life.  If you are short of food, He knows.  If you are in distress, He knows. If you are facing a fatal diagnosis, He knows. If your spouse has deserted you, He knows. Nothing can enter your life unless the Father has approved it.  (1 Corinthians 10:13:  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:  but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.–King James Bible “Authorized Version”, Cambridge Edition)

Many years ago a visitor to a school of the “deaf and dumb” was writing questions on the blackboard for the children.  He wrote this insensitive question:  “Why has God made me to hear and speak, and made you deaf and dumb?”  The question fell upon the little ones like a fierce blow to the face and they sat before the man in silence.

Soon, a little girl arose, lips trembling, eyes swimming with tears and walked straight to the blackboard.  She took up a piece of chalk and wrote with a firm hand these precious words:  “…even so, Father; for it seemed good in thy sight.”  (Luke 10:21b).  She had reached into eternity through a promise from God and she expressed a truth that a mature believer or a new convert could latch onto for security and rest.

What are you facing?  Your heavenly Father knows all about it and you can be sure that He cares.“
