Mix in a heavy saucepan 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup Hershey’s cocoa, 1 1/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice, dash of salt; stir in 1/3 cup hot water. Bring to a boil on medium heat; boil 2 minutes. Add 4 cups whole milk; heat, do not boil. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
