Putting Together a Pepper Bin

July 14, 2013 By Susan Nuyt Leave a Comment

It’s at my access– different kinds of pepper seasonings when I’m in a hurry to throw supper together when I just want some bit of luxury in the kitchen without having to find, grab, and open each shaker before adding a seasoning.  My fingers might get messy, so what if I don’t want to have to clean each shaker bottle afterwards, anyhow, having residue, leaving traces of food particles which causes more work for myself, taking more time out of my day.  Like everyone, I want to utilize all the time I can get in my day, stretch it so I can conquer as much as possible in making the day more than a productive one.  I’m thinking of small steps to preserve my energy, as well, so I can last longer in the day, not just to get more done but to be able to enjoy leisurely at some point.

I prefer old and new, alike, so I opt for small antique jars, custard dishes, even 4-ounce canning jars– I want them each in glass form to match as far as construction goes, but a variety of them looks nice in an oblong baking pan with a lid to fit firmly before I stash it in its appropriate place when I’m not reaching for a hot pepper spice for chili, slow-cooked pulled pork or simply for a good hamburger patty to fry.

See how attractive it is?– Cayenne, red pepper flakes, white pepper, coarse black pepper, chipotle, lemon pepper, chili pepper, and a medley of peppercorns…  I’ve even got a couple of punch bowl cups that are basically the same size as the other glasses.  This is a good way to keep your pepper seasonings, and it’s fun, making it more useful to have in the kitchen.
