~ Skirt in the Kitchen ~
If you don’t like turnips you might like these. You can’t tell that they’re turnips really.
Dad would have loved this dish– he adored this vegetable: the turnip.
Heat 1 tablespoon ham grease and 1 tablespoon unsalted butter in extra-virgin olive oil.
Lightly brown small peeled sliced turnips, broccoli slaw without the dressing– including carrots, 2 sliced shallots, and 1/2 of a red bell pepper.
Season with red pepper flakes, coarse salt, and white pepper.
During the end of cooking, the last 5 minutes, add chopped asparagus. Cook to leave it slightly crisp.
