Uncle Wilson’s Grilled Onions

[Cooking with Son]
Peel, core, and shallow centers of Georgia Vidalia onions. Cut slits around circumference of onions.
Place 1 teaspoon butter in each center; wrap 2 slices smoked bacon around the rims. Salt and pepper.
Wrap separately in aluminum foil; leave a small opening at the tops for releasing steam.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees or put on the grill, cook very tender; better when soft, not crisp.
